Latin Day at the University of Maryland

Since 1977, The Department of Classics at the University of Maryland, College Park, has held an annual Latin Day program on its campus for over 1,300 secondary students and their teachers. The theme cycles through a number of topics, among them Roman Laughter and Entertainment, Roman Women, Ancient Athletics, Roman History, Elections and Politics in Ancient Rome, Greek and Roman Mythology, and, in 2005, Hollywood's Rome. The Latin Day program itself includes various activities for students, such as video, costume, and quiz contests. Students and teachers may also volunteer to participate as performers.
